
Role Overview
As the Lead Detailer at Simple Details, you will leverage your comprehensive detailing expertise—from foundational wash and touch-ups through advanced paint correction and ceramic coating—to lead and elevate the performance of the detailing department. You will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the detailing department, overseeing quality control, and driving continuous improvement in service delivery.
This leadership role requires a proven track record of excellence in automotive detailing combined with strong supervisory, training, and mentoring capabilities. You will serve as the key link between management and the detailing team, ensuring adherence to SOPs, upholding Simple Details' high standards, and fostering a culture of accountability, skill development, and teamwork.
Core Responsibilities
Department Leadership & Operations Management
- Lead and manage all daily activities of the detailing department, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to schedules.
- Implement, monitor, and enforce SOP compliance across all detailing levels (Detailer I, II, III).
- Evaluate and maintain inventory, supplies, and equipment readiness in collaboration with supervisors.
Quality Control & Assurance
- Conduct regular inspections and final quality audits on all vehicles before client handoff, maintaining a high pass rate.
- Address and resolve any quality-related issues promptly, implementing corrective actions and coaching as needed.
- Maintain detailed documentation of quality metrics and improvement initiatives.
Training & Development
- Lead onboarding and ongoing training programs for new and existing detailers to build technical proficiency and adherence to standards.
- Mentor team members, provide performance feedback, and identify growth and skill development opportunities.
- Facilitate team meetings focused on process improvement, safety, client service, and operational excellence.
Team Collaboration & Communication
- Act as the primary departmental liaison to operations management, PPF installers, and other internal teams.
- Foster a positive, high-performance team culture aligned with Simple Details' core values.
- Ensure effective communication flow for daily priorities, feedback, and escalations.
Technology & Systems
- Oversee proper use of systems for job tracking, documentation, and photo uploads.
- Ensure all team members maintain timely and accurate digital records of work performed.

- Enforce all safety protocols and company policies in detailing operations.
- Champion a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.

- Department Quality Score: Maintain 95%+ vehicle pass rate on final quality inspections without rework.
- SOP Compliance: Achieve 100% adherence to all detailing, wash, correction, and coating procedures.
- Efficiency: Meet or exceed departmental job completion time standards without compromising quality.
- Training Completion: Ensure all team members complete required training milestones on schedule.
- Team Retention & Engagement: Maintain high retention with positive team feedback and low absenteeism.
- Inventory Accuracy: Timely identification and reporting of supply needs, minimizing shortages or delays.

Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years professional experience encompassing all levels of automotive detailing (Detailer I, II, and III).
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a high-volume, high-standard automotive detailing environment.
- Mastery of advanced paint correction techniques, ceramic coatings, and comprehensive vehicle prep.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
